Ways to extend the life of oscilloscope current probes

After using the current probe for so long, do you know how to extend the service life of the current probe?

03

Through the fault analysis of the damaged current probe, it is found that the probe parts that are easy to be damaged are:

● Circuit board connected to the current amplifier;

● The magnetic ring of the current probe is broken;

● Magnetic loop coil of current probe;

● The appearance of the sliding clamp of the current probe is damaged;

● Open circuit of cable.

Ways to Prevent Damage to Current Probes

The reasons for the damage of the current probe, the methods and instructions for preventing damage, and the reasons for the damage of the above 5 parts can be summarized as follows:

1. Remember not to plug and unplug the current probe with electricity

After the current amplifier is powered on, the circuit board is damaged by plugging and unplugging the current probe.

2. Avoid falling to the ground or using excessive force

The magnetic ring is a fragile material, and it is easy to break when it falls on the ground or is used too hard. A damaged/damaged magnetic ring will cause the test to be inaccurate or no longer able to measure the current.

3. Avoid overload when using

The magnetic ring coil is relatively thin, and overcurrent will cause the coil to burn.

4. When using the current clip to align. Pay attention and be careful when pushing the clip process

Misalignment of the current clamps and cracks will make the test inaccurate or impossible to measure the current. Note that the process of pushing the clip must be careful.

5. When using the cable, do not pull too hard, twist, etc.

The cable will be easily damaged if it is pulled, twisted, etc.
